I Think, Maybe...

I know this is a shock, after the last few weeks of *nothing* but I may have actually finished a painting tonight. I'd actually hoped to have it done a couple of days ago so that I could take it to the photographer, but that didn't happen. I'll be going back there soon enough, I'm sure, so this one will wait till the next trip.

This is the painting from the image that got the most votes on the poll I posted many months. All the babies around here are a lot bigger than this now. I do have more recent pics of this foal, but...well, they're on that hard drive from which I'm still hoping files will be recovered! The painting is 11 x 14 oil on Raphael linen panel. It may get a few touches here and there, but I'm posting it now anyway!

A week from now I'll be in Saratoga, so these next days will be packed. Meanwhile, my friendly neighbourhood peacock is still around. I think the horses are almost used to him now. I've grown a bit tired of him, personally! I want him to go home!! Stray dogs I know what to do with...stray peacocks, on the other hand, I don't!

Love the painting, foal is just gorgeous. Love the peacock as well though they do make quite a racket at times....just ship him over here I'll have him :)

This would make a nice painting! I just got two baby peacocks - one will be silver, the other either blue & green or green & copper - the seller wasn't sure! Now I wonder if my neighbors will be posting the same kind of blog about MY birds in a year or two?!

I think I'm a little disappointed in myself that I don't like having him around anymore, because he is beautiful! But he's scaring my horses, or more like, horses being horses (or at least Thoroughbreds being Thoroughbreds!) they use him as an excuse to be 'bad' at the wrong times! So he's yours, Elizabeth! Except I'm not really sure how to corral him, despite the fact that my Border Collies would most certainly offer to help!

Cedar Knoll Farm - your horses are beautiful! Let me know how it goes with the peacocks!!

This is a very sweet painting, Linda. Congrats on finishing it.

As for the peacock, have you called animal control? I can relate to your feelings. Deer are beautiful, gentle creatures, but they certainly can destroy your flowers and shrubs. I'd rather not have THEM around, either.

Thanks Karen.

Animal Control (in this case the local Humane Society) won't pick up an animal unless it's captured. We did call a local Conservation area which has a number of birds and does rescue/rehab and apparently Peacocks do run 'wild' and 'make great barn pets.' Argh. They don't want him. I'm thinking of calling a friend of mine that has a bit of a menagerie...perhaps she would like a barn pet! Maybe we could get him on the horse trailer!

I.love.that.painting! Wonderful! What does the peacock eat? I guess bugs and such. Maybe someone will take him. Maybe....you could have a give-a-way!!! LOL

Well don't know about peacock's but those with racing pigeons put some seed in a tin can rattle it and they come running (or whatever it is that birds do lol). The ones at Castle Howard just came and took seed from your hand....I know not much help :)
