"A Royal Tradition" ... Just not this year

Well, for the first time in its history, there was no representative of the Queen at the Queen's Plate. The Plate is the longest continuously run sporting event in North America, for those of you who don't know. This year the mutuel clerks decided to go on strike and picket the entrances where cars drove in. Unfortunately for them I don't think the WEG cares too much, as they have machines to fill in....but that's as much as I'll say about that!

For the first time since 1977, the Plate was won by last year's 2-year-old champion colt. I'm also very happy to say I know the breeders of this horse, so a BIG congrats goes out to Vicki and her husband, and partner Gail Wood. Oh, the horse's name is Edenwold. So here's to Edenwold, winner of the 147th Queen's Plate.
